ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A St. Louis man has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident after he admitted to crashing his car and leaving his passenger to die, even as he heard her screaming in pain.

The charges against Montrell Jeffery, 18, come nearly one year after the crash at Courtney and Witt in Kinloch.

Jeffery told police he flipped his car and heard Torri Ivy crying before running and hiding in a nearby home, never calling for help.

Ivy was found pinned under the car, and later died from her injuries.
