ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Looking for a dog?

The Humane Society of Missouri is getting more than 100 adoptable dogs from northern Texas Wednesday.  The dogs were transported to the St. Louis area because the pets will have a better chance at finding a home.

The Humane Society of Missouri’s team of six Animal Cruelty Task Force members in three animal transport vehicles will make the 1,600-mile round trip to bring the dogs to Humane Society of Missouri’s Macklind Avenue headquarters with the help of an emergency relief grant from PetSmart Charities. The dogs range in age from two-month-old puppies to adults and consist of many different small, medium and large breeds. Each dog will receive a veterinary examination, necessary vaccinations and treatment, spay/neuter surgery and a microchip. They will be made available for adoption as soon as possible.

The Humane Society is asking for donations of towels, blankets and dog toys to be dropped off at their headquarters at 1201 Macklind Avenue in St. Louis.
