ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Lyda Krewson, Alderwoman from the 28th Ward, has laid out a bold plan for gun control.

Krewson filed two bills Tuesday concerning gun control.

One requires guns left in unattended vehicles to be locked up, and a stolen gun would be required by law to be reported to police within 48 hours.

The other bans assault weapons within city limits.

"We’ve seen recently there have been a couple of times when a number of folks with assault weapons, loaded weapons, have walked down the streets of the City of St. Louis,” Krewson said. “I don't think that's a particularly safe situation."

The bills have several steps before coming for a public vote.

The first reading will be at Friday’s Board of Alderman meeting.
