SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

85 local restaurants are participating in a dine-out to honor Drury Inn night manager Scott Knopfel, who was fatally shot in January, 2015.

Knopfel was shot and killed at the front desk of the Drury Inn on south Hampton on January 15, 2015. Joseph P. Bowens was sentenced to life in prison for his murder.

The proceeds of the second annual dine-out benefit the hospitality industry.

Knopfel’s brother Mike says the dine-out is a way to memorialize his brother.

“The dine-out event keeps it alive in essence, because last year we helped nine students and raised almost $30,000,” said Mike Knopfel.
