ST.LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Patrick McVey was found dead inside his car on Interstate 55 near Loughborough nearly 2 weeks ago. Family and friends have stepped up and have boosted the CrimeStoppers reward to $92,920.

Family and friends have raised about $77,440 while Crimestoppers have committed $5,000 on top of that.

"He was a simple guy, loved to hunt, fish, play handball," says Brian Millikan.

Millikan is a family friend. He's known McVey for nearly 30 years. He says his death has rocked everyone who knew McVey, to their core.

"It comes and goes. It is a devastating loss. The emotional swings are high tide right now," he says.

Police say McVey was driving south on I-55 Wednesday when someone shot him. Police say a witness helped them pinpoint the time of the shooting, but they are not saying if he was specifically targeted or the victim of a random crime. Millikan told us he does not believe McVey was targeted.

"Someone knows about this, even if they weren't there, someone knows about this we are hoping the reward can be an incentive to push these folks to call detectives or CrimeStoppers," he says.

Tipsters can remain anonymous and still claim the reward. The number for CrimeStoppers is 866-371-8477.

Funeral arrangements have been set for McVey:

The wake was on Tuesday, November 15th at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton. Service was held the following day at Seven Holy Founders at 10:00 a.m.
