ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The City of St. Louis has ordered the New Life Evangelistic Center closed.

City officials sent a cease and desist notice Wednesday citing an “illegal use of premise” and ordering the property owner to “obtain occupancy permit or vacate premise.”

According to the notice, the center does not have a current property permit since the former hotel permit was revoked on May 12, 2015.

Officials at the center can appeal the notice within 30 days of the notice.

Hours before the notice was sent out, 11 people overdosed on K-2, a synthetic marijuana, outside of the center. According to Maggie Crane, the communication director for the Office of Mayor in St. Louis, the cease and desist notice has nothing to do with the drug overdoses.
