O'FALLON, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

One person is dead and three others are injured following a multi-vehicle accident involving a semi-truck.

O'Fallon Police received a call about a semi-truck traveling at high speeds in the eastbound lanes of the 700 block of West Highway 50. Police received several calls following the initial report, concerning domestic abuse, a highway accident, and one report stated a female jumped from the semi-truck while it was still moving.

O'Fallon officers were trying to locate the semi-truck when they received multiple calls about a multi-vehicle crash in the 8600 block of East Highway 50.

When they arrived, responding officers found four passenger vehicles, a semi-truck, and an accident scene stretching around one-fourth of a mile long. The scene took over three traffic lanes, as well as both shoulders of the north and south lanes.

One of the vehicles was overturned following the accident, and it's lone occupant was pronounced dead on the scene. That driver was Cheryl O. Culver, a 67 year-old resident of Summerfield, Ill.

Three other people in the accident were transported to the hospital. One of those transported was the driver of the semi-truck. All three drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The semi-truck driver, who is from Georgia, is currently in police custody with the O'Fallon Police Department, pending any formal charges.

The investigation is ongoing, and being handled by the Illinois State Police Traffic Re-construction team.
