Both chambers of Congress are now Republican-controlled, thanks in part to a close victory by Republican U.S. Senator Roy Blunt.
Sen. Blunt fended off Democrat Jason Kander, who conceded shortly after midnight.
Sen. Blunt and Kander have been neck-and-neck in the polls, but recent surveys showed Sen. Blunt with a lead.
The victory for Sen. Blunt is just one piece of an overall theme in Missouri, in which voters sent Republicans to five major state offices. Those offices are the governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state treasurer, and attorney general.
