ST. LOUIS, Mo. ( The leader of South St. Louis based punk-rock band “scene of irony” took a selfie as police arrested the suspect accused of stealing his band trailer.

Maurice “Moe” Holmes told News 4 he recognized the suspect as a panhandler he regularly helped.

In the background, you can see St. Louis police arresting 36 year old Jai Pervansky for stealing the band trailer.

I told the guy as good as I treat you, I can't believe you treated me like that,” said Holmes, “I’m about to get a selfie of you. So that's where the classic selfie came in.”

It’s a moment Holmes never thought he would have, after the trend of band trailers getting stolen across the St. Louis area.

It was taken from outside his South St. Louis garage late Saturday or early Sunday.

The trailer was painted a different color when police found it.

“We had all these cool stickers from all these national bands we had toured with, did shows with over the years,” Holmes said.

Holmes said some band t-shirts and equipment came out to about a 1,000 dollar loss.

But he's thankful to police for a happy ending

“we got the merchandise back, I got the trailer back, and that’s important to me although the memories in the stickers are gone, but once we strip this thing down, then we'll just make new memories,” Holmes said.

Pervansky has been charged with burglary, property damage and theft.
