SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Clydesdale Park in south St. Louis County was officially renamed in a ceremony after Officer Blake Snyder Wednesday.

Snyder was killed in the line of duty in early October in South County. St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger later signed an executive order renaming Clydesdale Park after Snyder. The park is a short distance away from where Snyder was killed.

His widow Elizabeth and their 2-year-old son were on hand for the ceremony. Elizabeth thanked the community for its support.

“I have found that my family has grown by thousands. I’m overwhelmed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you all,” Elizabeth Snyder said.

Stenger said he hopes that both Elizabeth and the public will enjoy the park.

“Our hope is that one day, you and your son can take comfort in visiting the park in the heart of the area Blake patrolled, and enjoy the playground, picnic area and trails,” said Stenger.

Hundreds of officers and community members were in attendance.
