ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The candidates for Missouri governor are locked in a dispute over tax returns that has also kept them from debating.

Democrat Chris Koster has cut off talks of debating, insisting that Republican Eric Greitens release his tax returns.

"He essentially dared us to release out tax returns, which I did immediately," Koster told News 4 on Thursday in North St, Louis.

Koster's returns showed his 2015 income at $115,000, which is his salary as Missouri Attorney General.

Greitens has insisted that Koster is afraid to debate him again since their only debate in Branson on September 30.

"The fact is Chris Koster is trying to come up with an excuse not to debate us," Greitens said at a campaign stop in Kirkwood on Wednesday.

Greitens says he has turned over financial disclosure statements to the Missouri Ethics Commission.
