NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Police at the University of Missouri-St. Louis are investigating the theft of expensive measuring equipment.

According to a university spokesperson, on Tuesday morning, two Ohaus brand analytical balances were reported missing from UMSL's Science Learning Building. The devices are valued at $2,000 each.

An analytical balance is a piece of scientific equipment designed to measure mass less than a milligram. The equipment measures so precisely that calibrations adjustments are needed to compensate for gravitational differences.
