ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Union employees at Schnucks have approved a new contract with the grocery store chain.

Members of UFCW Local 555 voted 1,020 to 570 to approve the new contract.

Workers previously rejected a contact offer in September because of difference over healthcare, and pension contributions.

However, the union and the chain reached a tentative agreement in mid-October.

The union did not get everything it asked for, but said the new contract includes pay raises, no loss of health insurance for eligible employees, holiday pay and a guarantee of 25-hour schedules for part time workers.

Both Shop ‘n Save and Dierbergs said they will pursue a similar contract to one offered by Schnucks.
