ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

As the spooky holiday draws closer, the St. Charles County Ambulance District is warning students of the real-life scares they should be on the lookout for this Halloween.

The Ambulance District dispatched several crews to visit several libraries to make sure both children and their parents are alert this year. Halloween falls on a Monday night, and Trick-or-Treaters should be wary of cars driving through neighborhoods.

The most active Trick-or-Treating usually takes place between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Two years ago, an 11 year-old boy was seriously injured when he was hit by a truck. The boy was Trick-or-Treating on the St. Charles Riverfront.

Children and parents were also advised to make sure everyone's costumes fit correctly, and to inspect the candy received from others once they return home for the night.

The next Halloween Safety event will take place Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Middendorf-Kredel Library in O'Fallon, Mo.
