News 4 Schools: Ferguson-Florissant students getting out of the classroom and into nature

Posted: Updated:

FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Learning about nature requires getting outside of the classroom, so that's exactly what students in the Ferguson-Florissant school district are doing at the Little Creek Nature Center.

It is nearly 100 acres of green space in the middle of north St. Louis County owned by the district.

The Missouri Department of Conservation has partnered with the school district to make improvements to the area and enhance the learning experience for students.

They include getting rid of invasive species that had snuffed out native plants and creating access to the pond so students can see aquatic life.

About 11,000 students use Little Creek each year to get a hands on learning experience with things like fishing and ecology and News 4 Schools got a tour of the grounds.
