WASHINGTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Washington police are trying to find the vandals who shot out nearly 40-car windows between 3:30 am and 5:00 a.m. Sunday.

Police officers started noticing the shattered windows before any of the victims called to report the crime.

Detective Sergeant Steve Sitze told News 4, "So the road officers that were working began compiling a list so the day watch guys could start contacting the owners of the vehicles."

"I could just scream, it's just frustrating. I spent all day cleaning a damn car out to get glass out of my vehicle," said Rose Berry, one of the victims.

Berry also said the crime was especially frustrating because the $175 cost for a new window was less than her $500 auto insurance deductible.

Larry Maune, owner of Mobile Glass Service, said he's been swamped with business after this second round of car windows being shot out with a BB gun.

"The worst part is we're not done with the first go round, there were 70 of them broken out," said Maune.

Earlier this month, prosecutors charged 17-year old Samuel Baker and 18-year old Nicholas Holtmeyer with tampering with a motor vehicle in connection with 70 car windows that were shot out in Washington.

Investigators say they'll speak with Baker and Holtmeyer as they look for clues to lead them to those responsible for Sunday morning's round of vandalism. Police are also hoping to find surveillance video at a home or a business that allows them to see the license plate of the white SUV that was spotted around the time of the shootings.
