WASHINGTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) - A 2-year old boy was found wandering around, alone and wearing only a diaper for the third time. The child was found mid-afternoon Sunday about  two blocks from the home where he lives in the 1000 block of Jefferson Street.

Washington Police Detective Sergeant Steve Sitze told New 4 that the child could have been run over or attacked by a dog.

"The risk to the child is all over the place," said Sitze.

"I don't know how he got out," said Robert Krimmel, the toddler's grandfather.

The boy walked out of the house and was found wandering around on Oct. 9, 18 and 24. Krimmel said the family installed a second lock after the October
18 incident, but somehow the child got out a third time.

Krimmel told News 4 that the state Division of Family Services (DFS) has visited the home twice.

News 4's Russell Kinsaul asked, "Has DFS said they're going to take the boy from the home?"

"I haven't heard from them yet, don't know," said Kimmel.

According to police the second time the boy got out, he was found more than a half-mile from home at 3 a.m.

Police are seeking to have the toddler's parents charged.

"We have three cases that are being forwarded to the state prosecutor for endangering the welfare of a child," said Sitze.
