ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Two St. Louis firefighters had to be rescued and a third was exposed to live wires during a fire in south St. Louis Thursday morning.

More than 30 firefighters were called to an unoccupied brick story building at Eichelberger and Wherry around 7 a.m.

While they were on the scene, two of the firefighters fell when the stairway beneath them collapsed, trapping them. A third firefighter was exposed to live wires. Thankfully, the firefighters were not injured.

Neighbors reportedly heard a loud boom and saw a lightning strike hit the home.

No other information has been released.
