ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) - The annual BBQ and spaghetti dinner raising money for Backstoppers saw their busiest year yet on Sunday.

The dollar amount is still being tallied but organizers say they saw a huge crowd for the annual fundraiser at the Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church in Lindenwood Park.

"We want to support the police and fireman it takes on a new importance when we have a tragedy that just happened and it just does good for the community," said  John Roden who volunteers each year to cook the food.

They served nearly 100 pounds of spaghetti and held a raffle.

The money will all go to the Backstoppers organization which is helping Officer Blake Snyder's family after his death.

For law enforcement in attendance at the event, the support did not go unnoticed.

"It makes you want to go out and put the uniform on and go on and do another days work, if youre cop no matter what you've got to go out and do the job no matter what it takes," said John Schmittgens, a retired St. Louis County police officer who currently works for Washington University Police.

Backstoppers says the donations have been record-breaking, they have raised more than $100,000 since Officer Snyder's death.
