BELLEVILLE (KMOV.com) - In an emotional post, the widow of Officer Blake Snyder took to social media to express her gratitude for the community's support since her husband's death.

"It's been 10 days...10 days since my heart was ripped from my chest," Elizabeth Synder says in a moving Facebook post.

Snyder posted a picture of herself and her two-year-old son Malachi with a message opening up about the days after her husband was shot and killed after responding to a disturbance call.

"This pain hasn't subsided, hasn't alleviated, is unbearable and unending. But this child here, he has been the hope in my heartache," she writes.

Snyder describes her young son as her peace and anchor during this devastating storm.

But she also says the community has helped through those dark days.

"Although this suffering seems never ending, the outpouring of love and support from the Saint Louis community, [and all over the nation] has been overwhelming."

She says the community support will have an impact on her family for years to come.

"Because of you, Malachi will always know who his father was. Blake will never be forgotten, and Malachi will truly know ho much the community loves him and care for him,"

Her post has been shared thousands of times on Facebook.

The Backstoppers organization continues to raise money for the Snyder family. Click here for a full list of fundraisers.
