Multi-vehicle accident causes shutdown in front of Lambert International Airport

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

An accident involving multiple vehicles, including a tractor trailer, caused the shutdown of eastbound lanes of Lambert International Boulevard overnight. 

The accident occurred around midnight, and caused the eastbound lanes of the road to be closed for more than seven hours. 

Lambert International Airport announced the accident on their Twitter page.

At 7:46 a.m., Lambert responded to a question about the clearing of the accident, saying the accident had been cleared around 7:15 a.m. 

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time and no injuries during the accident were reported. How many vehicles were involved is also unknown.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
