12-mile police chase ends with suspect crashing into home
Man dies in single-vehicle crash Sunday evening.
HILLSDALE (KMOV.com) -
A suspect is now in custody following a 12-mile long police chase that ended with a crash.
The Hillsdale Police Department said an officer was assaulted by a suspect Sunday morning, before the suspect took off in an SUV. At this time, it is unknown if the vehicle belonged to the suspect or not.
Police pursued the suspect, which took officers to East St. Louis, Ill., where the suspect ended the pursuit by crashing into a vacant home.
The suspect struck a home near the intersection of North 16th Street and St. Clair Avenue, just off of Interstate Highway 64. The suspect's vehicle drove onto the house's porch.
Damage to the home was minimal.
The Fairmount City Police Department, Hillsdale Police, and East St. Louis Police were all on the scene of the crash.
The suspect was taken into custody, but there is no further information on him at this time.
