Man charged with murder, police say he's likely fled state

ST. LOUIS ( - Investigators say they are searching for a man accused of stabbing another man to death last April. 

The 31-year-old victim was found stabbed to death near the railroad tracks at 500 Antelope Street in the Baden neighborhood. 

After months of investigating, Jonathan Edward Harris, 48, has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. 

According to court documents, on the night of the murder, a witness spotted a white older model sedan that appeared to be stuck on the railroad tracks. When the witness tried to help, the car sped off. The witness then spotted the body near the tracks. 

An investigation into the victim's phone found text messages with Harris. Police tracked down the car and found it was registered to the defendant. They found the victim's blood in the car, 

Investigators believe Harris has fled the state.

He has prior convictions for drug possession and unlawful possession of a firearm.
