MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

The victim of a residential fire in Granite City has now been identified.

Due to the condition of the body, however, the Madison County Sheriff's Department said the identity of the victim would need to be confirmed by dental records.

The victim is identified as John Douglas Beckovich. He was pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m., almost two hours after the sheriff's department arrived on the scene. Beckovich was 70 years-old.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department was called to the scene of a structure fire just after midnight. The call was made to a mobile home in the 5200 block of Chain of Rocks Bridge Road in Granite City, Ill.

The sheriff's department said they arrived to the residence, which was fully engulfed in flames.

Authorities said Beckovich's daughter, Jennifer N. Jones, was able to escape the fire. The sheriff's department said Jones is the owner of the mobile home.

Jones made an attempt to save her father, but authorities said the flames of the home were too intense.

The preliminary results of an autopsy conducted suggest Beckovich may have died due to smoke inhalation.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, an oxygen tank ignited just after midnight.

What caused the oxygen tank to ignite is currently unknown.

No other information has been released.
