NORMANDY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- St. Louis County prosecutors are looking into allegations that a Normandy city employee impersonated a police officer.

"I feel violated. Maybe he thought I was somebody else in that car," said Herman Pruitt Jr., who was allegedly pulled over by a Normandy city employee.

Pruitt Jr. says in September, he was driving on Bermuda Road on his way to see a client.

"I get about half way down and I see this big lights flashing. I pull over and think they are coming around. It stopped. It was a Ford F-150, heavy duty on the front with police lights," said Pruitt Jr.

Pruitt Jr. says a man approached his car.

"I was wondering because he didn't have a uniform on," said Pruitt Jr.

Pruitt Jr. says the man told him he had ran a stop sign and asked for his license.

"I tell him, 'the car belongs to my wife and she is in law enforcement.' So then he hands me my license back and tells me to watch the stop signs," said Pruitt Jr.

Pruitt Jr. says something just didn't feel right to him.

"I never saw a badge or radio and when he walks out, I stick my head out the window and he's got a nickle-plated 45-automatic set in his back," said Pruitt Jr.

From there, Pruitt Jr. headed to city hall for answers.

"I said, 'I need to talk to somebody, something happened,' and as soon as I said that, the guy was walking through the door," said Pruitt Jr. "I was like, what? I asked, is that guy a police officer, they say, 'no.'"

Pruitt Jr. says the ordeal is in the hands of county prosecutors.

"My concern is if there is anybody else out there that has gone through this, you need to come forward," said Pruitt Jr.

Sharon Warren, City of Normandy Clerk, says the city employee has been suspended for 30 days without pay. Warren says the individual was the acting public works director and has been with the city for over 30 years.
