ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The man who asked each candidate a tension-breaking question at the end of the presidential debate Sunday is beloved on the internet.

Karl Becker asked Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump to name one positive trait about the other candidate. Tweets are calling Becker “America’s Dad,” other say “Karl for President.”

Becker works as vice president of sales for an automotive aftermarket company and lives in Washington, Mo. He said he ran the question by his son on Saturday, who said it was simplistic and appealed to both candidates.

His 18-year-old daughter said people started coming up to her at a debate watch party after her father asked the last question.

“When they said Karl Becker had the last question. I was screaming ‘That’s my Dad!’ People were coming up to me saying ‘I can’t believe your dad got to ask the last question,” said Becker’s daughter Darcy.

Becker said he thought his question might be the first of the night instead of at the end.

Becker said he has been unable to keep with the amount of texts and calls he is receiving.
