ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Before he was fatally shot, St. Louis County police officer Blake Snyder was a four-year veteran of the force.

But he was also a husband, a father, and a graphic designer at his church.

Cathy McCune knew Snyder since the day he was born. She was in high school and babysat Snyder and his brother Adam.

On McCune's wall is a needlepoint with Adam and Blake's names on it, made for her by their mother. She's had it on her wall for years.

Snyder grew up in Godfrey, Ill., and worked several summers with the Parks and Recreational Department. Those who knew him there described him as a "terrific guy" who was easy to work with. Snyder got along with everybody.

Kimberly Caughran, Director of the Parks and Recreational Department, said Snyder had great rapport with people and could charm just about anyone.

Jim Lewis, Director of Maintenance, was Snyder's supervisor during his time there. Though he's supervised a lot of people over the years, he said Snyder was one of the few that stood out.

When he heard the news of Snyder's passing, Lewis said he was devastated.
