UNION, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A man is in custody after he allegedly kidnapped and assaulted his girlfriend in Union, Missouri.

The victim called police Sunday from a QuikTrip bathroom to report her boyfriend, Shane K. Story, kidnapped her, hit her in the face, cut her thumb with a knife, attempted to run her over with a vehicle and threatened to kill them both. She said she was able to get away from him by running to the QuikTrip.

A retired officer, who was at the QuikTrip, saw what was taking place and positioned his vehicle in front of the suspect's vehicle to stop him from hitting the victim with his vehicle.

When the retired officer got out of his vehicle to confront the 36-year-old, the suspect fled onto Highway 50.

About 20 minutes later, Story was arrested by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department in Gerald, Missouri.

Story has been charged with domestic assault and felonious restraint. He is being held in Franklin County on a $50,000 bond. According to officials, he also has warrants pending in Illinois for domestic assault.
