(CNN.com) – Pay raises ranging from five to 15 percent took place today for 157,000 Starbucks workers across the U.S.
This summer Starbucks announced base pay hikes of at least five percent for employees at company-owned stores. Additionally, company stock awards are doubling for workers of two years or more.
Salary tracking website Glassdor.com said employees averaged $9.35 an hour, with shift supervisors averaging more than $11 an hour.
However, customers may be helping to cover some of the pay raises. In July, Starbucks raised the price of its drinks by as much as 30 cents.
