ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The St. Charles County Council voted unanimously Monday to create its own prescription drug monitoring program.

The goal is to prevent doctor shopping, a way in which addicts and dealers go from doctor to doctor to get painkillers.

Missouri is the only state in the country to not have a drug monitoring programs.

Officials previously indicated they would create such a program, following the lead of St. Louis City and St. Louis County.
