Officials expecting hundreds when absentee voting begin Tuesday

MAPLEWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A record turnout is expected by officials when absentee voting begins this Tuesday.

One St. Louis County election official said when the absentee voting begins at 8:00 a.m., hundreds of voters are expected to show up at the Deer Creek Shopping Center in Maplewood.

The county experienced problems in April and during the primary election. But those problems have been reportedly worked out. More ballots will be on standby than in the past.

Unlike Illinois, Missouri does not have early voting; only absentee voting.

The county voting center will also have Saturday hours starting in mid-October.

Eric Fey, the Director of Elections for the county, said the ballot for this year's election is rather lengthy.

Fey recommends voters go to the election boards website and familiarize themselves with the ballot before they head to the polls.
