(KMOV.com) -- A few days after being found in West Virginia, Metro East teen Katherine Derleth and her infant son, Christopher R. Derleth, are back in their home state.

Katherine Derleth and her son were returned to the custody of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Katherine Derleth's step-father, Christopher M. Derleth, remains in the custody of West Virginia. He is currently awaiting a court proceeding in West Virginia, before an extradition process can begin.

Katherine Derleth, 13, and her son Christopher R. Derleth, were found by authorities more than 600 miles away in West Virginia back on Sept. 24. The teenage girl and her son went missing on the morning of Sept. 18 with Katherine Derleth's stepfather Christopher M. Derleth.

News 4 reported there were three sightings of the trio in West Virginia before authorities located them.

Captain Thomas Dixon of the Madison County Police Department said Christopher M. Derleth is now in custody.

News 4 will update this story as more information becomes available.
