VELDA CITY (KMOV.com) -

Police have a woman in custody after a man was stabbed and killed in St. Louis County Friday night.

Officers with the Velda City Police Department found 36-year-old Anthony Randle, Jr. with a fatal stab wound to the chest in the 7100 block of West Florissant Avenue.

Shortly after finding the victim, police arrested a suspect, identified as 40-year-old Shanita Pettigrew.

Pettigrew told police she placed a knife in the back of her pants and pulled it out during an altercation with Randle. After the knife was shown, Randle grabbed two pillows to block it, but was struck once in the chest, according to police.

Following the stabbing, Pettigrew reportedly went to a store and told the employee she stabbed her boyfriend.

Pettigrew was charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of armed criminal action. Her bond was set at $200,000.

The Velda City Police Department requested assistance from the St. Louis County Police Department.
