DE SOTO, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A driver and passenger are dead after being struck by a second vehicle, who failed to obey a stop sign at a Jefferson County intersection.

Lewis Kinstler and Lorna Smith were traveling southbound on Route P around 7:50 p.m. Friday night. They rode in their 2003 Dodge Ram Caravan. When they approached the intersection with Missouri Route 110, Kinstler, the driver of the Caravan, failed to stop at the stop sign posted at the intersection.

Kinstler and Smith's vehicle then collided with a second vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500, which was traveling eastbound down Missouri Route 110.

Police said Kinstler and Smith were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

No other injuries were reported from the accident.

The condition of the second driver, Scott Thole, is unknown at this time.
