ST. PETERS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

St. Peters Police said one suspect involved with stealing a Ford Mustang is in custody while another suspect is still at-large.

Austin Benson is charged with one count of felony stealing and two counts of property damage.

Just after 11:00 p.m. Thursday night, police received a call about a possible theft in-progress at the CarMax in the 4900 block of I-70 Service Road North, near Mid Rivers Mall.

A witness said they observed a box truck struck the parking lot gate entrance and stole a Ford Mustang.

Another witness said an additional suspect was on a motorcycle at the time of the theft.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the box truck still running, but empty. It was later discovered the box truck was stolen from the I-70 Shoppers Fair, also located on I-70 Service Road North. The truck was found with heavy damage, police said.

" I just don't get it. I just don't get it. I just don't understand and we did everything we did to secure it, behind a secure gate, we even double locked the wheels," says Kevin Jenkins, owner of the truck.

Police then received a call about a Mustang traveling eastbound on I-70, traveling around 140 MPH. The Mustang was reportedly followed by a motorcycle that matched the description of the cycle observed by witnesses at the CarMax.

A Missouri State Highway Patrolman pursued the pair and attempted to catch them. When the patrolman approached the Bryan exit, the Mustang was found unoccupied at the bottom of the exit ramp.

The suspect was not located.

Officers made their way to the Bryan exit when they witnessed the same motorcycle seen at the CarMax lot, traveling down I-70. They relayed their information to surrounding agencies, and the suspect was eventually stopped in St. Ann.

"The motorcycle came over at one point at 130 miles per hour  that we clocked him at. The minute he saw all lanes of traffic blocked he literally stopped his bike laid face down on the ground," says St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the St. Peters Police Department.

The suspect, a 23 year-old male, is from St. Louis and is currently awaiting charges while being held. The charges that await him are one felony charge of Stealing a Motor Vehicle, 1st Degree Property Damage, and 2nd Degree Property Damage.

The name of the first suspect will be revealed once the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issues charges to him.
