ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Colin Schlereth is inspiring the St. Louis Blues on and off the ice.

Last year, the 11-year-old could barely skate, let alone play hockey because in 2014 he was diagnosed with stage 4 aggressive brain cancer.

“You just don’t ever think it’s gonna be you,” said Becky, Colin’s mom. “So, when they said those words and the neurosurgeon that day came into the MRI and explained to me that it was a brain tumor, it was crushing.”

Since getting back on the ice, Colin has made a few friends, including the St. Louis Blues and their mascot, Louie.

“He made such an impact on all of our lives right away. This kid, you can’t forget him, and the relationship has just blossomed from there,” said Randy Girsch, director of community development for the St. Louis Blues.

The St. Louis Blues will ride for Colin in ‘Pedal the Cause’ on Sunday.
