ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Police are searching for a suspect who stole a vehicle from a north St. Louis gas station with a child inside.

The incident happened at a gas station near Goodfellow and Natural Bridge Thursday evening.

Police said a 2-month-old child was inside the car at the time of the theft. The car was running with the keys in the ignition when it was stolen. The child was found safe at 1515 Kingshighway and the vehicle was found on Lotus.

"The vehicle responded here placed the child in the restroom, took him in his little pumpkin seat and placed him in the bathroom. The individual then got in the car and fled," said Captain Eric Larson with SLMPD.

Friday morning, the St. Louis Police Department released surveillance photos for the suspect. Anyone who recognizes the man should contact police or CrimeStoppers.
