ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Police K9 teams from across the state are inviting people to come see them in action.

The St. Charles Police Department has partnered with Royal Canine to host the 2016 Missouri Police Canine Association Workshop.

Forty teams have spent the week training in St. Charles. These are the K9s that help with drug searches and tracking, whether it's a missing person or criminal on the run.

Thursday at 7 p.m., the teams be at Mueller Park at 3801 Mueller Road in St. Charles for a free demonstration.

"It's very important for us to give something back to the public because they've been so supportive especially over the past year's events," said St. Charles Police Officer Dan Allen who is working with K9 officer Nitro. "So this is something we can really do for the public to give something back to them so we want to make it the best event possible and make it fun for the entire family."

At Thursday night's event, the St. Charles Police Department will be raffling off a German Shepard puppy to one lucky person in attendance.
