Collinsville High School teacher collecting donations for injured freshman

COLLINSVILLE (KMOV.com) – The Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 is coordinating an effort to share support and well wishes for the family of the freshman that was severely injured.

KAHOKstrong is an organization in the district that cares for families in their time of need.

The family of Tray spoke with News 4 on September 19 and said they are focusing on their son’s well-being and are appreciative of the community’s thoughts and prayers.

A teacher at Collinsville High School is helping organize the effort to assist the family by collecting cards, notes and donations.

Toni Geisen is the co-sponsor of KAHOKstrong, and said she is collecting donations of gas cards, Visa gift cards, and food gift cards to help the family while they are spending countless hours at the hospital.

On September 19, Tray was severely injured after he fell on a staircase on the west side of the high school near the vocational wing. Collinsville police were called because of the severity of the incident.

At this point, investigators believe this was a tragic accident.

Kimberly Collins, the spokesperson for the district, says they will also collect donations at the varsity football game on September 23.
