WELLSTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The North County Police Cooperative has arrested Keon Shepard, the person of interest in the shooting of a 21-year-old Wellston resident in the 1200 block of Stephen Jones on Tuesday evening.

Shepard, who was considered armed and dangerous, was apprehended without incident at 2:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of South Jefferson in St. Louis on Thursday.

He is being held pending the application of warrants.

Chief of Police Tim Swope had previously identified 21-year-old, Keon Shepard, as a ‘person of interest’ in the case and said he should not be approached. 

The victim was transported to the hospital and taken into surgery where he remains in critical condition following the shooting. Authorities have not released any information regarding a long-term prognosis.
