ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -  The Better Business Bureau advises St. Louis runners and partygoers to use caution when registering for what appears to be a bogus 5K fun run and music party titled the "The Birthday Run."

The promoted run is suppose to take place September 25 in downtown St. Louis, near Soldiers Memorial and Kaufmann Park. One of St. Louis' top event planner said the barbecuing cooking and tasting event, "Q in the Lou" is set to take place during the same time.

In early September, the BBB serving Greater Maryland issued a news warning, questioning a similar "Birthday Run" set to be in October in Baltimore. Officials said the event was not scheduled for the advertised location.

The website listing "The Birthday Run" event also includes other upcoming birthday runs in Missouri, including events in Columbia, Springfield and Kansas City. A spokesperson with the Columbia city manager's office says the city has received no applications for the event advertised on March 25, 2017.

If you were ripped off, contact the BBB. You can also contact the Federal Trade Commission.
