ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The owner of Vitt Heating and Air-conditioning said his company was taken advantage of when it repaired the air conditioning at Twittily Dittily Doo Childcare over the summer.

The bill totaled more than $5,000.  Jeffrey Vitt said the owner Yvette Wagner paid with several checks that bounced, and now he feels taken advantage of.

“It was day after I completed the job that I got back from the bank that the first check showed that the account had been closed,” said Vitt.

Vitt said he tried reaching out to the person listed on the invoice, Wagner

“She said that she would talk with the building owner and that she will get back to us with payment arrangements,” said Vitt

Vitt said he didn't hear back from Wagner, prompting him to contact News 4, who contacted Wagner multiple times and even went to her business.

Wagner finally contacted Vitt and set up a payment plan, promising to pay every cent, according to Vitt.  Vitt said he doesn't think this would have happened if it weren’t for News 4 reaching out to Wagner.

Police said Vitt contacted them concerning Wagner’s bounced checks.  They said Wagner also told a detective she is working to get the issue resolved on her end.

At this point, no police report has been written because it hasn’t been determined to be a criminal matter, according to police.
