FENTON, Mo. (KMOV,com) -

Another round of heavy rain is causing more damage to Bob Henry's backyard in Fenton.

Henry says a creek that only swells with stormwater during heavy rain has wiped away about eight feet of yard in recent years.

"Anytime it happens, I'm always a little apprehensive," Henry said as he looked at an old fence that is falling into the creek.

Surging creeks during heavy rain has become a problem throughout the area and a problem for MSD which bears the brunt of blame from homeowners.

"The fact of the matter is creeks and streams are private property," says MSD spokesman Lance LeComb.

Many homeowners however cannot afford the expense of walling in a creek and replacing lost property.

LeComb says MSD is now looking at proposal in a couple of years to try and fund those repairs, but the cost will likely require voter approval.
