ST. LOUIS, Mo. ( -

The Forest Park Balloon Race has been cancelled, for the first time in it's 44-year history.

The race's official Facebook page made the announcement the morning of the race, just before 8:30 a.m. An hour before the announcement, race officials said they would check the field conditions to see if the race could continue following Friday's storms.

This cancellations comes on the heels of the Balloon Glow's cancellation Friday, for the same reason.

The announcement of the Balloon Glow's cancellation was made around 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

These two events were just a pair of the several cancellations announced due to poor weather conditions.

"We were out on the field with our operations team setting up getting ready for the balloon race tomorrow and balloon glow tonight. It was raining but that is par for the course. Unfortunately it didn't stop when we hoped It would and the condition's out there are just really wet," says Samantha Levitz, coordinator.

Taste of St. Louis, which is held in Chesterfield, has also been called off for Friday evening. It will open at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Among the other events canceled are Hold the Line for Flamion, which is a fundraiser being held for injured Ballwin Officer Michael Flamion. That event has been rescheduled for Sept. 30.

Celebrate St. Peters 2016 has also canceled their Friday events due to the weather. The Saturday events have not been canceled, yet, but officials said they are monitoring the weather to see how it will impact the rest of the weekend.

There are major changes to the Greentree Festival in Kirkwood. The opening concert will be moved to the Community Center in the large gymnasium Friday. The city says space will be limited and is asking the public not to bring coolers. The official start time for the festival on Saturday will be delayed by one hour and will start at 11 a.m.
