When November comes, the fate of several different candidates and issues will be decided by the voters.

Those voting in St. Charles County, will ultimately be deciding on whether or not their fire department will see increased funding.

Central County Fire and Rescue will host a "Meet the Chief" event Friday afternoon. There the department will explain to voters why they need an increase in their funding.

The proposal is called Proposition L, and it says the Fire District will provide better medical training and equipment for it's firefighters.

Currently, the fire department is mostly staffed with emergency medical technicians who provide basic life support. That means there is a lack in invasive procedures.

But paramedics provide advanced life support. That is why the department wanted to get the license and proper equipment to be able to achieve that goal of attaining the advanced life support. If the increased funding is approved, the district plans to have paramedic equipment in all their trucks in 18 months.

If the Prop L passes, it would allow the district to levy a tax of 25 cents per-$100 of assessed valuation.
