ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Polls open at 6 a.m. Friday morning for a special election to decide whether incumbent Penny Hubbard or challenger Bruce Franks will represent the 78th District in the Missouri House of Representatives.

If residents need a ride to the polls, one local business owner can help.

Steven Fitzpatrick Smith, who runs the Royale Bar and Restaurant on South Kingshighway Boulevard, says he will use his mint-condition 1973 Buick Riveria to drive anyone to the polls to vote Friday.

He calls himself a "chronic voter" and says several years ago he started offering rides to the polls.

“I tend towards the people that might be on the more challenged side of transportation,” said Smith. “Especially if you're going to take your grandmother, put you at top of the list.”

Those interested in a lift are urged to call the Royale at (314) 772-3600.

Smith says he does not ask people who they are voting for, he just wants them to get out and vote.
