JEFFERSON COUNTY (KMOV.com) – A motorcyclist was killed while speeding on Interstate 55 in Jefferson County Sunday night, police said.

Around 6:15 p.m., an officer attempted to stop the motorcyclist, later identified as 30-year-old Harold Frick, of Arnold, for speeding in the southbound lanes near Pevely.

Police said Frick refused to pull over and reached speeds up to 150 miles per hour.  The deputy did not chase after the suspect, but another deputy encountered the motorcyclist near Herculaneum.

A short time later, the motorcyclist crashed into the median-cable barrier. The motorcyclist died at the scene. Officers responded to the scene of the crash.

No other vehicles were involved.
