ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A home remodeling company is trying to recover after thieves broke into a St. Charles home the company was remodeling and stole most of their tools.

Butler Painting and Remodeling co-owner Bryan Butler told News 4, "We estimated $10,000-$12,000 worth of tools were taken.”

The thieves also vandalized the house by breaking light fixtures, knocking holes in walls and damaging the main water supply line in the basement.

"They actually tried breaking it out of the wall or just bending the pipe, it's got a nice kink in it now," said Butler.

The criminals loaded up and hauled away the tools that Butler’s company has accumulated over more than 20 years.

He said the company has been able to borrow some tools from friends but a GoFundMe account has been set up to raise money for new tools.
