BALLWIN, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The Ballwin Police Department held an open house Wednesday evening to thank the community for their support in recent weeks.

Officer Mike Flamion will require long-term care after he was shot and wounded on July 8.

Since the shooting, the community has rallied behind the officer, his family and the police department. There have been bake sales, lemonade stands and other fundraisers to raise money to help with medical costs.

“It’s overwhelming. It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, I mean the community really does love the police men here and the police men love their community as well,” said Ballwin Police Chief Kevin Scott.
