BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A Belleville man is accused of throwing sawdust into the face of a “Pokemon Go” player last week.

The victim told police she was inside a vehicle with two friends in the 300 block of North 8th Street when they were surrounded by men around 12:30 a.m. on July 17. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Bernard Oranika, then walked up to the open passenger window and threw the sawdust inside, striking the passenger in the face, police said.

Following the incident, the driver of the victim’s vehicle drove to MotoMart, located at 701 West Main Street, and called police.

Oranika was charged with aggravated battery on a public way, resisting a peace officer and possession of ammunition with no FOID. He was taken to the St. Clair County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
